Ranbaxy’s full-year net profit zooms 405 percent

MUMBAI - Pharmaceutical major Ranbaxy Tuesday reported an increase of 405 percent in its full-year net profit for the year 2010, which stood at Rs.1,496.8 crore as compared to Rs.296.5 crore in 2009.

Group has posted profit after tax and minority interest of Rs.14,967.51 million for the year ended Dec 31, 2010 as compared to Rs.2,964.92 million for the year ended Dec 31, 2009, the company said in a regulatory filing.

According to Ranbaxy’s managing director Arun Sawhney: We have had a strong year attributable in large measure to the robust revenue growth in our key geographies and realization from our first-to-file (FTF) opportunities in the US.

Meanwhile, the total income of the drug major increased by 17.45 percent in the period and stood at Rs.9,380.95 crore as against Rs.7,986.57 crore last year.

Region wise, the company’s India sales in 2010 increased by 13.52 percent at Rs.1,925.83 crore as against Rs.1,696.41 crore earlier.

However, sales abroad grew by 17.30 percent and stood at Rs.6,624.83 crore from Rs.5,647.71 crore last year.

The company’s external income from its pharmaceutical arm for the given period reported an increase of 17.94 percent at Rs.8,960.53 crore as against Rs.7,596.94 crore in 2009.
