Snow delays start of EU summit
BRUSSELS — Heavy snow has delayed the start of a meeting of the 27 European Union leaders, who will seek ways to handle the debt crisis that is threatening countries such as Greece.
Financial markets are hoping EU governments will provide some form of support to Greece to protect it from a potential default.
The meeting was due to start at 9:30 AM (08:30 GMT) Thursday, but officials pushed that back to noon (11:00 GMT).
The Brussels Airport reported “heavy snowfall” Thursday morning and warned of flight delays and cancellations.
