NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Reliance Communications led by Anil Ambani exited the BWA auction way back in the earlier week after all the bid prices were witnessed to be overshot by all its estimate figures. Reliance spokesperson told the media that the company exited BWA auction as the price of the biddings witnessed a raise over the business estimates. Reliance Communications won 3G service licenses in all 13 circles out of a total of 22 circles available in India.

BWA spectrum (Broadband Wireless Access) which is said to be one of the most necessary components to roll out the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) services shall soon witness its full implementation as all laptops and other such hand held gadgets get to access the Internet at much faster speeds. Delhi and Mumbai were the two cities with highest no of bidders. Delhi received total bids amounting to Rs.2,241.02 while Mumbai got Rs.2,292.95 crore bids. It was announced at the BWA auction that the BWA spectrum shall allow all participant companies to access high speed internet and also give them a chance to use the same for voice based services as well.

The BWA auction had a total of 117 rounds. The participant companies in BWA auction comprised of market leaders like Idea Cellular, Vodafone Essar, Qualcomm, Bharti Airtel, Reliance WiMax, Augere Mauritius Ltd, Aircel, Spice Internet Service Provider, Tikona Digital Networks, Infotel Broadband Services and Tata Communications Internet Services. The successful bidders at the BWA auction shall be able to employ the assigned frequency for any and all commercial needs but they shall have to wait until they receive the BWA spectrum.
