NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- American Eagle Outfitters Inc. which is a well known teen retailer of the USA is going to open a new store in a mall in Pittsburgh which is aimed at the kids. It wants to expand its existing 77kids range. The retailer is eyeing a share of the lucrative kids garment section. It is actually following the example of Aeropostale Inc a rival teen retailer. Even renowned adult retailer Gap Inc is stepping into kids garments section. The Americans are on a children’s garment buying spree and the retailers want to cash in on the opportunity. Even the senior citizens are buying clothes for their grandchildren.

The children’s garment market is worth $34 billion which is only a part of the total apparel market. The brand is not doing very well as of now and its profits in this quarter are likely to be on the lower side. Even in the first quarter of the year it did poorly. The company is hopeful that unlike its adult line, the 77 Kids will be able to strengthen its foothold in the market. It started as an online venture. The 5 stores of 77 Kids will be set up in malls. The American Eagle stores are already there in those malls.

American Eagle is excited about opening stores for 77 Kids after getting great response from online sales. The company is targeting various age groups among the kids segment. The companies are all eying the kids segment with attention. They are also planning to launch various types of kids clothes to woo the buyers.
