Rishad Premji Gets New Post

BANGALORE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The third largest software entity in India, Wipro has declared that the new Chief Strategy Officer for its IT wing will be Rishad Premji. He is the son of Azim Premji, the founder of Wipro limited. Saurabh Govil the Senior Vice President of Wipro Technologies HR division said that he will start his work soon. In his new role, Rishad Premji will report to Girish Paranjpe and Suresh Vaswani the joint CEO and he is replacing Lakshminarayana K R. He has done his MBA from the coveted Harvard Business School and previously worked with consulting firm Bain&Co as well as GE Capital. He joined Wipro in 2007.
Rishad Premji is an heir to the$17-billion empire of Wipro. Now he will be able to put his management skills to good use. The appointment of Rishad Premji is the commencement of a top level management restructure for Wipro. He will take care of the strategy segment while his predecessor looked into both M&A functions and strategy. The appointment of the son of Ajim Premji as the Chief Strategy Officer of Wipro has made wave in the business community in India. The industry buzz is that in future he may take over as the owner of Wipro. Azim Premji has not said anything on the subject but he has expressed his desire to make the management and ownership of the company separate.
Rishad Premji may or may not become the future CEO of the company as his father had said earlier. However, his entry in Wipro marks the beginning of a new era in corporate India.
