GANDHINAGAR - One of the largest business delegations from Taiwan to the country in the past 20 years will visit Gujarat Thursday, a statement said here.

Taiwan’s Minister of the Council for Economic Planning and Development Christina Y. Liu is leading the 90-member team. The visit follows a state delegation which visited the east Asian island nation in August 2010 for the Vibrant Gujarat road show.

The delegation also has members of various ministries and government departments of Taiwan, industry bodies and leading companies, including Teco Group, LCY Chemical Corporation and Acer.

Three of these companies - Teco, LCY and Sunner Solar Corporation - have already decided to set up plants in the state, the press release said.

The delegation has already visited Delhi and Mumbai.

Their Gujarat visit will conclude with an hour long interaction with Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

India has about 80 Taiwanese companies, out of which 70 are in Tamil Nadu.
