URS joint venture gets $950M contract for TVA work

SAN FRANCISCO — URS Corp. said on Wednesday that the Tennessee Valley Authority has awarded a contract worth up to $950 million to a joint venture, for work on its hydroelectric facilities and seven coal-fired power plants.

The contract went to G.UB.MK Constructors, a joint venture between URS, WorleyParsons and Williams Plant Services. It has a five-year base term.

The facilities covered by the contract are in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia, and Mississippi.

URS shares rose 29 cents to $42.61 in morning trading.
