South Dakota’s corn harvest still delayed
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Last week’s snowstorm in eastern South Dakota further slowed the already-late corn harvest.
The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that the corn harvest advanced only 9 percentage points over the week, to 82 percent complete. That compares with 99 percent on average.
All but 4 percent of the state’s winter wheat crop is in fair or better condition.
South Dakota cattle are rated 84 percent in good to excellent condition, and sheep 85 percent. Feed supplies remain strong, at 96 percent adequate to surplus.
