Electronic Arts stands behind Tiger Woods
SAN FRANCISCO — Electronic Arts Inc. is standing behind Tiger Woods and plans to go ahead with the release this month of an online game featuring the embattled golf superstar.
EA Sports President Peter Moore says Woods is “still one of the greatest athletes in history” despite his missteps off the golf course. He also cited the company’s extensive work over the past year in developing the new game, “Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online.”
AT&T Inc. and Accenture have dropped their sponsorships of Woods, who is taking a break from the sport to focus on his marriage after his admitted infidelity.
EA wouldn’t comment on whether plans for a new edition of the popular “Tiger Woods PGA Tour” console game would be affected. The franchise has raked in hundreds of millions of dollars.
