Honda December sales in US jump 24 percent, but fall 19.5 percent for full year

2009 Auto Sales: Honda year sales down 19.5 pct.
TORRANCE, Calif. — American Honda Motor Co. Inc. said Tuesday its U.S. sales jumped 24 percent in the last month of the year, but fell 19.5 percent for all of 2009.
BY THE NUMBERS: Sales jumped to 107,143 vehicles from 86,085 in December of 2008. For all of 2009, sales fell to 1,150,784 from 1,428,765.
THE DIVISIONS: Sales in the Honda division rose 18.9 percent in December compared with 2008. But the company’s Acura division reported a 8.1 decline.
TOP SELLER: Accord sales increased 17.3 percent in December to 28,238.
HOT MODELS: The CR-V increased sales by 24.5 percent to 18,686 to hit a new December record.
