Marine Corps orders 400 heavy trucks from Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, Wis. — The U.S. Marine Corps has ordered more than 400 heavy trucks from the defense arm of Oshkosh Corp. in a deal worth over $158 million.
Oshkosh Defense said Wednesday the order is for Logistics Vehicle System Replacements, also known as LVSRs. They are trucks used to transport supplies across difficult terrain.
The new order extends an existing contract for the vehicles, bringing the overall order to about 1,300 trucks.
The company based Oshkosh, Wis., has received military contracts within the last year worth almost $4 billion. One of its products is a mine-resistant truck designed for the rugged terrain of Afghani battlefields.
Shares of Oshkosh rose 31 cents to $39.37 in midday trading Wednesday.
