Summary Box: Rates rise after 1Q earnings reports
RATES RISE: Interest rates mostly rose Tuesday in the bond market after a series of strong first-quarter earnings reports pointed to a recovering economy.
BIGGER PROFITS: Better-than-expected corporate profits led investors to shift money out of safe assets like Treasurys and back into stocks, pushing bond prices slightly lower and their yields higher.
BENCHMARK: The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note maturing in February 2020 was flat at 3.80 percent from Monday.
