Mendocino County expects quarantine over moth
UKIAH, Calif. — A Mendocino County agriculture official says nearly 6,000 acres of vineyards are likely to be placed under quarantine after the European grapevine moth was discovered near Ukiah.

The word of the moth in Mendocino County comes after Sonoma County agriculture officials said they expect half of their county’s vineyards to be placed under quarantine because of insect has been found in large numbers in nearby Napa County.
Officials say more than 30,000 of the pests have been trapped in Napa County.
The European grapevine moth is especially dangerous to grapes, can also eat its way through a long list of tree fruits, including peaches, plums and nectarines.
