NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

AmeriCredit Corp., up $4.21 at $23.91
Automaker General Motors Co. is buying the auto financing company for $3.5 billion to expand loans to customers with poor credit.
Nokia Corp., up 35 cents at $9.17
The mobile phone maker lost market share, sales remained flat and net income dropped 40 percent, but it sold a record number of smartphones.
Xerox Corp., up 62 cents at $9.03
The acquisition of outsourcer Affiliated Computer Services gave the copier and printer seller’s net income and revenue a big boost.
United Parcel Service Inc., up $3.14 at $63.15
The shipping company raised its outlook, saying it can overcome slow U.S. economic growth with higher prices and international business.
Corning Inc., up $1.30 at $18.10
The maker of LCD glass for TVs and PCs said it was investing $800 million to build a factory in China as the market there grows.

Qualcomm Inc., up $2.95 at $39.11
The chipmaker’s net income rose and its raised its profit and revenue forecasts for the year.
F5 Networks Inc., up $10.29 at $83.40
The company, whose products manage and route computer network traffic, posted a strong guidance for the fiscal fourth quarter as revenue recovers.
Netflix Inc., down $16.09 at $103.56
The online movie subscription company’s quarterly revenue fell short of analyst expectations as new customers chose low-cost plans.
