Anadarko narrows 2Q net loss on higher revenue
THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Oil and gas producer Anadarko Petroleum says it narrowed its second-quarter loss as it increased sales of natural gas.
The company on Tuesday posted a loss of $40 million, or 8 cents a share, for the April-to-June quarter. A year ago, Anadarko’s loss was $226 million, or 47 cents a share.
The latest results include one-time charges of about $418 million. Excluding those, net income was $244 million, or 49 cents a share.
Revenue rose to $2.6 billion from $1.74 billion.
Anadarko has a minority stake in the BP PLC well that exploded April 20 in the Gulf of Mexico, causing one of the nation’s worst environmental disasters.
Anadarko believes BP was negligent in operating the well, and has withheld its share of the costs.
