India Rejects Research In Motion’s Offer

NEW DELHI, INDIA(GaeaTimes.com) — Research In Motion is having a harrowing time today. Firstly it’s new release the BlackBerry Torch was not received favorably. As a result its stock prices took a hit. Recently another news suggest that the Research In Motion is having a tough time with the Indian Government.
The Research In Motion proposed to share the IMEI numbers, PIN and the IP address of the BlackBerry Enterprise Servers.
But an Indian Government official made a statement
Those details do not give us access to encrypted services and is unacceptable, We should be able to have full access to meet our security concerns
RIM maintains that the encryption of any message sent through it, cant be decoded. They also maintained that disclosure of the User’s Encryption Key will not be possible. Both the parties were hopeful that an agreement to address the security situation would be reached shortly.
India first raised the concerns about the security threat that BlackbBerry service posed. The inability to intercept any message sent through the service could be used by terrorists to communicate between them. Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates previously raised questions regarding the BlackBerry service. Saudi Arabia has blocked at least one such services.
