DemandTec fiscal 2Q loss narrows
SAN MATEO, Calif. — DemandTec Inc., a provider of software services for retailers and consumer products companies, said Thursday that its fiscal second-quarter loss narrowed slightly as operating expenses shrank.
For the quarter that ended Aug. 31, DemandTec reported a loss of $2.9 million, or 9 cents per share, compared with a loss of $3.1 million, or 11 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter.
When excluding one-time items, earned 2 cents per share.
Revenue rose 3 percent to $20.4 million from $19.8 million.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, who typically exclude one-time items from their estimates, expected a loss of a penny per share on $19.6 million in revenue.
The company’s operating expenses totaled $16.2 million, down 3.8 percent from $16.8 million in the year-ago quarter.
DemandTec shares dipped a penny to $9.40 in after-hours trading. The stock finished regular trading down a penny at $9.41.
