Real estate broker found in desert doing well
JOSHUA TREE, Calif. — The Los Angeles real estate broker who survived six days without food or water in a remote desert canyon and wrote messages to his family on his hat has been upgraded from fair to good condition in a hospital in Joshua Tree.
Hi-Desert Medical Center spokeswoman Karen Graley tells the Los Angeles Times 64-year-old Edward Rosenthal remains in intensive care, but is sitting up and taking fluids and resting comfortably.
Graley says Rosenthal probably will remain hospitalized through the weekend.
Rosenthal became lost after setting out on a day hike a week ago. He was spotted by rescuers on Thursday.
A public relations firm retained by the family says Rosenthal plans to speak at a press conference early next week in Los Angeles.
