More than 10,000 in Mo. seek free tech training

ST. LOUIS — The state says more than 10,000 Missourians have requested vouchers for free technology training being offered through a partnership with Microsoft.

The partnership is called Microsoft Elevate America. It offers free access to e-learning and certification programs from Microsoft.

Missouri is receiving nearly 25,000 vouchers entitling residents to access specialized e-learning programs for Excel, Word and other Microsoft programs and platforms.

The deadline to apply for a voucher is Jan. 31. Applications are available by going to www.mo.gov and clicking on the “Microsoft Elevate America” tab.

Michael Holmes heads the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment Career Center. Holmes says people who don’t own computers can go online at career centers and public libraries.
