NEW YORK — The following stocks were among those that moved substantially or traded heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market:
NYSE:
Advanced Micro Devices Inc., up 33 cents at $9.15
The Federal Trade Commission sued the chip maker
Beazer Homes USA Inc., up 60 cents at $5.09
Shares of homebuilders climbed after reports showed an uptick in home construction and mortgage application volume.
Playboy Enterprises Inc., down 38 cents at $3.46
The company appointed senior vice president Robert Campbell as interim chief financial officer starting Jan. 1.
Constellation Brands Inc., down $1.06 at $15.11
The wine maker was downgraded amid news the company was being sued by its Mexican-based partner in a joint venture.
Technitrol Inc., down 91 cents at $4.50
The electronics components maker said it will sell $50 million in convertible senior notes in a private offering.
NASDAQ:
Charles Schwab Corp., up 72 cents at $18.07
An analyst upgraded the retail brokerage’s stock and another analyst initiated coverage with a favorable rating.
Achillion Pharmaceuticals Inc., up $1.04 at $3.19
The company
FGX International Holdings Limited, up $1.59 at $19.50
The company, which designs reading glasses and sunglasses, agreed to be purchased by Essilor International for about $465 million.
