Nissan North America US sales surge 29 percent in February; sales of Versa subcompact double

Franklin, Tenn. — Nissan North America Inc. said Tuesday its U.S. sales surged 29 percent in February, as sales of its Versa subcompact more than doubled and Maxima and Sentra sales also jumped.
BY THE NUMBERS: Nissan reported February 2010 sales of 70,189 vehicles, compared with 54,249 units a year earlier. Nissan division sales rose 32 percent for the month, while sales of Infiniti vehicles were nearly 11 percent higher.
TOP SELLERS: Nissan sold 11,609 of its Versa subcompact model, more than double what it sold in February 2009. Sales of the Maxima rose nearly 90 percent to 5,301 and Sentra sales jumped about 35 percent.
