Recalls: Roman shades, dressings and deli products

The following recalls have been announced:

—About 163,000 Roman shades, made in the U.S. and sold at Ethan Allen Design Centers, were recalled because the shades’ freestanding loop and the exposed inner cord can strangle children. No reported incidents or injuries are linked to these recalled shades. These made-to-order shades were sold at Ethan Allen Design Centers at least since 1999 and through December 2009. The recall involves all styles and sizes of Roman shades sold under the Ethan Allen brand name, but they have no labels or markings. The shade’s wholesaler is Ethan Allen Global Inc., of Danbury, Conn. Details: by phone at 888-339-9398; on the Web at www.cpsc.gov.

—Earth Island is recalling certain Follow Your Heart brand products because they might be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems. The recall includes Follow Your Heart dressings sold in grocery and health food stores nationwide, and Follow Your Heart deli products sold at grocery and health food stores in the Southern California region. No illnesses to date have been reported, according to the Chatsworth, Calif., company. For more information, consumers can call 818-725-2820.
