Mincing Overseas Spice recalls black pepper

DAYTON, N.J. — Mincing Overseas Spice Co. said Friday that it is voluntarily recalling some black pepper products due to possible contamination with salmonella.

The company said the black pepper was sold in 50-, 25- and 20-pound cartons bearing the company’s name and was not distributed at a retail level. The product was shipped to 12 states under lot numbers 3258 and 3309.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Customers who purchased the affected products can contact Mincing Overseas Spice Company at 732-355-9944.

Customers with questions about Mincing’s spice blends or other foods made from these lots should contact their local FDA Recall Coordinators to determine if a further action is needed, the company said.
