Cubic defense unit gets $13M in contracts

ORLANDO, FLA. — A defense unit of Cubic Corp., whose electronics are used in defense systems and for collecting fares on mass transit, got nearly $13 million in U.S. Army contracts to build simulator systems, the company said Monday.

Cubic said its simulation systems division will design and make turret crew stations for a virtual training system that can simulate Bradley fighting vehicles.

The division will provide hardware for 15 mobile and nine stationary simulators, which will go to the program’s main contractor, Oasis Advanced Engineering. The simulators are set be delivered starting next May.

Oasis’ contract is with the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, and it includes options to provide up to 114 systems over four years.

Cubic shares rose 10 cents to $36.22 in afternoon trading.
