Whirlpool Corp. spent $280K on lobbying in 1Q
WASHINGTON — Whirlpool Corp., the world’s largest maker of home appliances, spent $280,000 in the first quarter lobbying the federal government on appliance energy tax credits and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
That’s more than the $180,000 the group spent in the year-ago period and the $200,000 it spent in the fourth quarter of 2009.
The company also lobbied on energy matters, tariffs, pension funding, refrigerator tests and other issues in the January-March period.
Besides Congress, the organization lobbied the White House Office, according to the report filed April 20 with the House clerk’s office.
