Yakima Herald-Republic in Washington names interim publisher; nationwide search continues

Yakima, Wash., newspaper names interim publisher
YAKIMA, Wash. — The Yakima Herald-Republic newspaper in Washington state has named Jamie Stickel interim publisher while it completes a nationwide search for a permanent publisher.
Stickel is the paper’s vice president of sales. His father, Fred Stickel, retired in 2009 as publisher of The Oregonian.
Jamie Stickel’s new role becomes effective after June 25, the last day for current Publisher Michael Shepard.
Shepard is leaving the paper to become vice president of business operations for The Seattle Times Co., the Herald-Republic’s parent company.
Jamie Stickel is also a candidate for the permanent publisher’s job.
Prior to coming to Yakima, Jamie Stickel worked in advertising sales and management for publications in Oregon, Michigan and New Jersey.
