SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)- This year a huge number of products have been recalled by various companies along with cars. Earlier several types of children’s toys and ready to eat foods had been recalled. The new entrant in the recall bandwagon is fast food giant McDonalds and it is recalling its latest Shrek special edition glasses. The recall declaration has left a section of the people who bought these glasses confused. The web page of the company became inaccessible temporarily as a lot of buyers tried to access the site, overloading the server in the process. 12 million Shrek glasses have been sold and it is quite natural considering children and adults love the movie franchisee alike. The glasses have Shrek characters imprinted on them.

McDonalds has said on its part that the customers should return the Shrek glasses and they will be refunded accordingly. The glasses contain cadmium and the amount is higher than what is permitted by federal standards. However, a section of the buyers are still baffled as to how they would seek the refund. Tuesday the company is going to come up with the procedure and a special site is being readied for that reason. The recall may affect the image of the company to an extent.

The CPSC which takes an active role in asking companies to recall products for several issues have said that the buyers do not have to show receipts to get refund. The McDonalds Shrek glasses went on sale from the first week of May. The recalled glasses were made by a company named ARC International.
