Tribune asks bankruptcy judge for more time
DOVER, Del. — Tribune Co. is asking a Delaware judge to again extend deadlines in its bankruptcy case as it continues to negotiate with creditors.
The judge moved several deadlines in the Chapter 11 case earlier this month to give parties time to respond to an independent examiner’s report on the media conglomerate’s 2007 leveraged buyout and the potential claims arising from it.
But Tribune filed a motion late last week saying it would be unwise to stick to the current time frame given the state of negotiations aimed at developing a consensual reorganization plan. The company specifically says creditors should not be bound by this Friday’s deadline to vote on its plan.
The judge has scheduled a hearing Tuesday afternoon to consider Tribune’s request.
