Report: J&J creates new quality control position
TRENTON, N.J. — A published report says Johnson & Johnson is creating a new position to ensure companywide quality production and compliance.
The move comes as the health care giant’s once-stellar reputation for quality is being tarnished by repeated recalls of nonprescription medicines.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that J&J veteran executive Ajit Shetty will oversee the company’s medical device and consumer groups. Chief quality officers for each business will report to him.
The maker of Band-Aids and Tylenol cut its 2010 profit forecast in June due to costs associated with the recalls and the long-term shut down of a factory.
