McAfee, Intel, Sears among big market movers
NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

McAfee Inc., up $17.08 at $47.01
Chipmaker Intel is buying the computer-security software maker for $7.68 billion, a 60 percent premium over McAfee’s stock price.
GameStop Corp., down $1.70 at $19.06
The video game retailer cut its profit outlook because of costs connected with a new customer rewards program and other expenses.
Stage Stores Inc., up 86 cents at $11.56
The department store’s quarterly profit jumped, helped by lean inventories, and announced a new stock repurchase program.

Intel Corp., down 69 cents at $18.90
In a drive to boost its ability to provide security in online computing, the chipmaking giant bought McAfee for $7.68 billion.
Sears Holdings Corp., down $6.22 at $61.03
The owner of Sears and Kmart cut its quarterly loss, but results fell short of analyst expectations as customers spent less.
First Niagara Financial Group Inc., down 83 cents at $11.95
The regional bank is buying NewAlliance Bancshares of Connecticut for $1.15 billion, creating a bank among the country’s 25 largest.
Brocade Communications Systems Inc., down 39 cents at $4.75
The network computing gear maker posted a quarterly profit, but lowered its revenue outlook for the year.
PetSmart Inc., up $2.67 at $32.82
The pet products store’s quarterly earnings rose as sales increased, and its profit forecast topped analyst expectations.
