Auto industry group spent $1.45M on 2Q lobbying

WASHINGTON — The group that represents auto manufacturers spent $1.45 million in the second quarter lobbying Washington on matters ranging from auto repairs to electric vehicles.

The amount was less than the $1.86 million that the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers spent in the same quarter of 2009, and less than the $1.64 million it devoted to lobbying in the 2010 first quarter.

Issues that the group listed on its disclosure form, filed July 20 with the House clerk’s office, included legislation on clean air, fuel economy standards and pedestrian safety. It also lobbied on bills meant to stimulate the development of electric vehicles, and legislation dealing with the market for spare parts.

The auto group lobbied Congress, The Department of Transportation, the White House, the Environmental Protection Agency, and several other government entities in the April to June period.
