Ousted HP CEO Hurd won’t run for re-election to News Corp board

HP’s ex-CEO to leave News Corp board at term’s end

NEW YORK — Mark Hurd, who was ousted as CEO of Hewlett Packard Co. following allegations of sexual harassment, will not run for re-election to News Corp.’s board of directors.

News Corp. said Tuesday the decision for the 53-year-old not to run at the company’s Oct. 15 annual shareholder meeting was made after discussions with Hurd.

Hurd resigned from HP on Aug. 6 after HP investigated a sexual harassment claim and found his expense reports were allegedly falsified to conceal a relationship with a marketing contractor and actress Jodie Fisher.

News Corp.’s Class A shares were up 12 cents, or 1 percent, at $12.44 by midday.

News Corp. owns TV stations, newspapers, the Twentieth Century Fox movie studio, MySpace and the Fox cable channels.
