NEW YORK — The following stocks were among those that moved substantially or traded heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange:

Warner Music Group Corp., down 86 cents at $6.20
The recording company posted an unexpected loss in the fourth quarter on severance costs despite a strong slate of music releases.
Barnes & Noble Inc., down $1.27 at $22.25
The bookseller posted a larger loss than last year and lowered its profit forecast on high costs to launch its electronic book reader.
Windstream Corp., down 5 cents at $10.08
The phone company bought carrier Iowa Telecommunications Services Inc. for $1.1 billion in cash, stock and repayment of debt.
Medtronic Inc., up $2.94 at $43.25
The company reported a surprising boost in profit, as increased sales of implantable heart devices defied reports of weakening demand.
Hewlett-Packard Co., down 83 cents at $50.19
The company’s cost-cutting and push into new markets is helping soften the blow from weakness in the company’s mainstay businesses.
American Eagle Outfitters Inc., up 47 cents at $15.01

The company said revenue will be weaker in the first quarter, while an overall rebound isn’t expected until the end of the fiscal year.
Peet’s Coffee & Tea Inc., down 20 cents at $32.86
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters sweetened its offer for Diedrich Coffee by $2 per share, matching a rival bid from Peet’s.
