USDA: ND soybean, sunflower harvests wrapping up

FARGO, N.D. — Another week of mild weather in North Dakota has enabled farmers to almost wrap up the soybean and sunflower harvests.

The U.S. Agriculture Department said Monday in its weekly crop report that the sunflower crop was 93 percent harvested and soybeans were at 96 percent.

The corn harvest remains delayed, however, with only 40 percent of the crop in the bin. That is about four weeks behind average.

Both topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies in North Dakota are rated more than 80 percent adequate or surplus.

Ranchers are moving cattle to winter grounds. Stockwater supplies are rated 93 percent adequate or surplus, compared with 58 percent last year.
