19 biorefinery plants to be built in 15 states

The U.S. Department of Energy announced Friday it will spend $564 million to speed up construction of 19 biorefineries that will turn agriculture and forest waste into diesel fuel. The list of projects:

— American Process Inc., Alpena, Mich.

— Amyris Biotechnologies Inc., Emeryville, Calif.

— Archer Daniels Midland, Decatur, Ill.

— Bluefire LLC, Fulton, Miss.

— BioEnergy International LLC, Lake Providence, La.

— Clearfuels Technology Inc., Commerce City, Colo.

— Elevance Renewable Sciences, Newton, Iowa.

— Enerkem Corp., Pontotoc, Miss.

— Gas Technology Institute, Des Plaines, Ill.
