Analogic tapped for explosives detection system
PEABODY, Mass. — Medical and security imaging equipment maker Analogic Corp. said Wednesday it will develop part of a new explosives detection system to be manufactured by Smiths Detection, an aviation security company.
No financial details about the deal were disclosed. Smiths Detection will pay for engineering development over a period of about two years, Analogic said.
Analogic said the system is being designed to keep up with new threat-detection standards, such as a mandate in European airports to scan all checked baggage.
