Rambus acquires technology, patents from Global Lighting Technologies for $26 million

Rambus pays $26M for Global Lighting technology
LOS ALTOS, Calif. — Memory chip designer Rambus Inc. said Monday it acquired technology and lighting patents from Global Lighting Technologies Inc. for $26 million.
Rambus said the purchase will broaden its computing and consumer electronics offerings. Acquired patents include Global Lighting’s MicroLens light distribution technology.
Rambus also said 12 people will join the company from Global Lighting, including co-founder and former CEO Jeff Parker.
Shares of Rambus rose 2 cents to close at $21.53.
