Whirlpool appoints former Wrigley CEO to board
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Home appliance maker Whirlpool Corp. said Tuesday its board has elected William D. Perez, former president and CEO of Wm. Wrigley Jr., as a director.
Perez, 62, led Wrigley from 2006 to 2008, when it was bought by Mars Inc. He also previously was CEO of Nike Inc. and CEO at S.C. Johnson.
Perez also serves on the boards of Johnson & Johnson and Campbell Soup Co.
“With his exceptionally strong business leadership and deep consumer experience, we expect Bill will bring significant value to our board and company,” said Jeff M. Fettig, Whirlpool’s chairman and CEO, in a statement.
Whirlpool is based in Benton Harbor, Mich. Its shares rose $1.05 to close at $77.45 on Tuesday.
