Mississippi casino revenues down in December
JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi’s state-licensed casinos reported December 2009 revenues of $185 million, down only slightly from November.
The December figures, released Wednesday by the Mississippi State Tax Commission, represented a $470,000 drop from November and an $8.5 million drop from October.
For the calendar year 2009, the casinos took in $2.46 billion, compared to $2.72 billion for 2008.
Casinos along the Mississippi Gulf Coast won $83.5 million in December, down from $87.2 million in November.
Casinos along the Mississippi River — including Tunica, Vicksburg and Natchez — won $101.4 million in December, up $3.2 million from November.
Casino revenue, or “win,” is the net amount of money won from gamblers. It is not profit.
