First Energy seeks to buy more electric supply
READING, Pa. — FirstEnergy Corp.’s Pennsylvania Power Co. filed a plan with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to purchase electric generation supply to serve its customers starting in 2011.
The company does not own any electric generating plants and distributes energy to 160,000 customers in western Pennsylvania.
The company expects that the PaPUC will rule on its application later this year.
Shares of First Energy rose 75 cents, or nearly 2 percent, to close at $41.74.
