Edwards Lifesciences names Von Schack to board

IRVINE, Calif. — Heart device maker Edwards Lifesciences Corp. on Friday said it elected Wesley von Schack to its board of directors.

Von Schack, 65, is the chairman of the executive committee of The Bank of New York-Mellon Corp., and he is the former chairman, president and CEO of Energy East Corp., which is now called Iberdrola USA.

Von Schack will be the eighth member of Edwards’ board. The company has had seven board members since October 2008, when director Philip Neal died.
