Consumer product, food and beverage makers to outline strategies for 2010 at industry meeting

Ahead of the Bell: Consumer goods makers at CAGNY

PORTLAND, Ore. — Most major food, beverage and consumer goods companies will be gathering Tuesday for the first day of the Consumer Analyst Group of New York meeting, one of the industry’s biggest annual events.

Executives from more than 30 leading companies are expected to present to analysts and others at the weeklong event where companies often unveil new products, announce major company changes or other strategic plans.

Companies from General Mills Inc. and Procter & Gamble Co. to Coca-Cola Co. and Clorox Corp. will be in attendance. Companies often update their guidance at this time and some, like Kraft Foods Inc., will be reporting its quarterly results from the event.
