DENVER — Qwest Communications International Inc., the nation’s fourth largest phone company, said Linda Alvarado, a board member, has decided to step down.
Alvarado is CEO of Alvarado Construction Inc., and has served on Qwest’s board of directors since 2000. She was a director for U.S. West Inc., now owned by Qwest, from 1998 until 2000.
Qwest said Alvarado will remain on the board of the Qwest Foundation, the company’s charitable giving organization.
Qwest’s board will now have 12 members.
On Tuesday, Qwest said its fourth-quarter earnings fell 39 percent as customers disconnected traditional landlines in favor of cell phones.
