Unclaimed $2.5M Ind. jackpot has winner after all
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana lottery officials say someone has turned in the winning ticket for a $2.5 million jackpot that they said a week ago wouldn’t be awarded because the 180-day deadline to collect the winnings had passed.
The lottery office scheduled a Friday afternoon news conference to introduce the winner of the Aug. 19 Hoosier Lotto drawing.
Lottery officials said Monday they had miscalculated the deadline for claiming the jackpot and extended the deadline until next week because of the mistake.
The winning ticket was sold at a convenience store on the south side of Indianapolis.
