Motorola executive leaves to lead Technitrol

SEATTLE — The president of Motorola Inc.’s home and networks mobility division is leaving to become CEO of Technitrol Inc., which makes parts for manufacturers in wireless, military, automotive and other industries.

The companies said Monday that Daniel Moloney will replace Technitrol’s retiring chief, James Papada III, who is retiring. He is set to start at the end of March.

Moloney has worked for Schaumberg, Ill.-based Motorola for almost a decade, Technitrol said in a statement. Previously, he worked for 16 years at General Instrument Corp., which was acquired by Motorola in 2000.

Motorola’s home and networks mobility business makes home networking equipment, TV set-top boxes, cellular network technology and other products for cable television, telecommunications service and wireless service providers.

Shares of Motorola slipped 14 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $6.87 in afternoon trading. Philadelphia-based Technitrol’s stock gained a penny to $4.39.
