Wal-Mart Stores to create 6,500 jobs in Canada
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. says it will create up to 6,500 jobs in retail and construction as it opens 35 to 40 Walmart super centers in Canada this year.
The world’s largest retailer said Tuesday its moves will include new stores, relocations, expansions and store remodels.
Wal-Mart Stores says its investments will add up to almost half a billion dollars.
The U.S.-based company says specific store locations will be announced over the coming months.
Wal-Mart Stores says the new additions will bring its total number of stores in Canada to 325 from 280. It already employs more than 70,000 people in Canada.
