Reebok sued over ‘Finish Strong’ Saints T-shirts
NEW ORLEANS — Two athletic clothing makers are having a dispute over the “Finish Strong” mantra adopted by the New Orleans Saints in their championship run last season.
Finish Line LLC is an Illinois-based company that claims it has held the trademark on the slogan since 1998 and uses it in a brand of sports apparel.
It is suing Reebok International LLC over a T-shirt reading: “We Finish Strong. We Are Saints.”
Reebok says it was not aware Finish Line existed until it received a letter from their attorney. It says the slogan was already being widely used and reported in the media. They claim it was more of a description than use of the trademark.
Finish Line is seeking all profits from the shirt and unspecified damages.
