Kohl’s plans to hire 1,500 workers across 6 states
MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s Corp. said Wednesday that it plans to hire nearly 1,500 workers as it opens nine new locations this spring.
The department store chain plans to add the jobs at its new locations in Colorado, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania.
Kohl’s, known for its low prices, plans to open 30 stores this year and remodel 85 locations. By the end of March, Kohl’s will operate 1,067 stores in 49 states.
The company last month reported higher profit and solid sales for the fourth quarter as it attracted more customers who took advantage of its value-priced store-label brands. The company did caution that demand will continue to be weak throughout 2010.
On its Web site, the Menomonee Falls, Wis., company said it had 126,000 employees at the end of January 2009.
Its shares slipped 13 cents to close at $53.10 in trading Wednesday.
