BigBand COO resigns, CEO gives up chairman job

BigBand Networks changes executive lineup

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — BigBand Networks Inc., a digital video software company, on Thursday announced that its chief operating officer and a top sales executive have resigned.

David Heard, chief operating officer, will stay on as a consultant until June 30. Sean Rooney stepped down as senior vice president of worldwide sales. He will stay at the company until April 1.

Board member Mike Pohl was appointed non-executive chairman of BigBand, taking over from Amir Bassan-Eskenazi, who will continue as chief executive and serve as a director.

Pohl joined BigBand’s board in April 2009. He has more than 25 years of experience in the telecom and cable industries.

BigBand promoted Ray Fitzgerald to vice president of worldwide cable sales. Wayne Gaudette will continue as vice president of telco sales.

BigBand’s software enable the delivery of such things as high-definition TV and video on demand. Shares of BigBand, based in Redwood City, Calif., fell 7 cents to close at $2.91.
