Lindsey Vonn returns to US to new level of fame
NEW YORK — Lindsey Vonn now gets recognized in the United States.
The American returned from the ski season to discover she’s now a celebrity in her home country after her dramatic Olympic gold medal performance in Vancouver.
Vonn was already a big name in Europe as her dominance led to three straight World Cup overall titles, but she could walk the streets of New York or Los Angeles anonymously. She found that has changed once she got back stateside Monday.
Vonn told The Associated Press on Thursday that she’s excited to take advantage of the opportunities offered by her success. Her next few weeks will include attending fashion shows. But she also can’t wait to finally take some time off starting in late April.
